The Old Pond

February 2016

This grey smelly overgrown puddle was dying: on its way to being completely overgrown and would eventually vanish. It took a lot of effort but we cleared it out, cut trees back, pulled out ones that fell down, tamed the weeds and encouraged native plants.

And in November 2016, just as we were finishing the project, a storm blew a two hundred year old ash tree down, right into the middle of the pond.

And then we had floods, snow and ice.

But we did it, and a little over two years after we began work, it was looking much better and teaming with life.
